Almost all resin types will eventually shrink as time passes, even epoxy. The shrink rate isn’t an issue if the resin liners have a low shrink rate. However, for liners like polyester and vinyl resin that have a high shrink rate, the owners of the pipes will have a bit of a problem since this will mean that the pipes will need a bit of maintenance. With regards to epoxy liners, you don’t have to worry too much about any maintenance because of its low shrink rate and can still have a tight hold on the pipes.
Epoxy doesn’t produce foul odours and has no volatile organic compounds (VOC’s)
Some issues with resin liners during relining is that it emits a chemical odour that can be pretty inconvenient for anyone in the dig site, especially if the work area doesn’t have any proper ventilation. Some types of resin liners produce chemical smells due to the compositions of the material. The main culprit for this is the styrene compound found in some lines. Fortunately, epoxy resins don’t have any styrene or other compounds that create odours. In addition, volatile organic compounds are also other drawbacks that are found in few resin liners available in the market, but again, epoxy resin doesn’t contain such materials.

Among the key features of epoxy resin is its ability to prevent root attacks and even lower the chances of leakage within the pipe lining.
